Imagine a Day Without Water is a national education campaign that brings together diverse stakeholders to highlight how water is essential, invaluable, and in need of investment. This is its 10th year and will be celebrated on October 17.

The water infrastructure in the district delivers clean drinking water to our residents and then safely returns wastewater to the environment. Reliable water services are essential to the quality of life, environment, and economic vitality of the community. A day without water would be a public health and safety crisis, limiting the functionality of firefighters, hospitals, businesses, and homes.

The nation’s water infrastructure is aging and in need of investment, resulting in a water main break every two minutes somewhere in the country. The district budgets for one water break per month and for future water replacements every year in the Capital Master Plan. The plan is evaluated and updated each year and is available for the public. This plan provides a framework for the district to be proactive in addressing infrastructure needs by identifying, prioritizing and scheduling water and wastewater rehabilitation and replacement projects over the next ten years.

The district recognizes that water is essential to quality of life, public safety, and economic health and acknowledges the importance of raising awareness about the value of water through participation in the “Imagine a Day Without Water” National Day of Action.

The district is dedicated to investing in safe and reliable water and wastewater systems and calls on our local/state/federal partners to continue dedicating the funding necessary to protect and restore our nation’s critical water infrastructure.
