Winterize Your Sprinkler System Before it Freezes

The district would like to remind its customers to turn off and winterize their sprinkler systems before the first freeze of the season. Typically around this time of year, the district responds to several service calls for frozen/broken irrigation lines.

Turning off your system a little earlier than normal this fall shouldn’t affect your lawn’s health. It will come back strong and green in the spring. Without proper preparation, your sprinkler system might be damaged by freezing temperatures.

10th Annual Imagine a Day Without Water

Imagine a Day Without Water is a national education campaign that brings together diverse stakeholders to highlight how water is essential, invaluable, and in need of investment. This is its 10th year and will be celebrated on October 17.

The water infrastructure in the district delivers clean drinking water to our residents and then safely returns wastewater to the environment. Reliable water services are essential to the quality of life, environment, and economic vitality of the community.

Cover Your Flush

It’s that time of year when district water maintenance is dwindling down and routine sewer maintenance is ramping up.

The district uses best practices to maintain sewer systems and lessen the risk of a blockage. This includes video and physical inspections, the use of root treatment chemicals, and regular cleaning. But it is up to the homeowner to protect their sewer line.

Fall Lawn Care

Following the tips below can prevent your lawn from getting strained during the coldest months ahead and help it reemerge healthy and lush in the springtime.

Keep Mowing – Grass doesn’t stop growing until it frosts over. Regular mowing helps the turf stay healthier. The ideal height for growing turf in Colorado is about 2 ½ to 3 inches.

Low Water Pressure

What is the average water pressure for a home?

The answer will depend on your home’s physical relation to the water source supply. If your home is at a higher elevation relative to a water source location, you will have lower pressure. If your home is downhill from a water source, your water pressure will be higher. Average water pressure for a home within district boundaries is about 75 psi, however this will vary depending on your location. The lowest pressure areas within the district run around 60 psi.
