Fire Hydrant Regulations
District and Fire Department regulations require that fire hydrants have a minimum clearance of 3 feet on all sides of the hydrant. If you have a fire hydrant on your property, you may landscape around it if there is 3 feet of clearance and it can be easily accessed in the event of a fire and for district maintenance.
It’s Drinking Water Week!

It’s Locator Safety and Appreciation Week!
Locator Safety & Appreciation Week, April 22 – 28, promotes safety awareness and best practices among utility locators, as well as raising public awareness about the importance of underground utility safety.
National Work Zone Awareness Week
This year, National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is April 15-19. This year’s theme is “Work Zones are temporary. Actions behind the wheel can last forever.”
NWZAW 2024 is hosted by Maryland Department of Transportation. NWZAW highlights the deadly dangers of inattention at highway work areas.
2024 Earth Day River Clean-Up
South Platte Renew is hosting the annual River Clean-Up event between April 15 and April 27.
There will be a hybrid of Do-It-Yourself efforts throughout the two weeks, leading up to the clean-up in Littleton and Englewood on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. – noon. Participants can select the location that works best for them.
Drought Status and Statewide Snowpack
According to the March 19 update from the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS), 8.4% of the state is currently in the Moderate Drought category, and 25.7% of Colorado is Abnormally Dry.
